ABSTRACT
The article reports on the Woodland Carbon Code approval, the first Great Britain forestry carbon code which aims to improve the integrity of offsetting. It mentions the prospect of companies increasing their investments in tree planting projects to reduce their carbon emissions as carbon offsetting offers a way to finance reforestation without the need for public funding. The one flaw of the code is that emission cuts will be double-counted, for both the firm and government claims.
