WIND installations boom

The article offers updates on wind energy and composite industries in the U.S. The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) reported that the U.S. wind industry installed more than 1200 megawatts in the third quarter of 2011. Northampton County, Virginia and a consortium of companies are collaborating on a new project called Poseidon Atlantic that will create a facility for the testing and certification of large offshore and land-based wind turbines.
