ABSTRACT
The article argues that agriculture and soils should be excluded from the carbon offsetting initiative. It looks at the potential growth of the carbon offsetting business as well as the inclusion of agriculture in carbon offset schemes. The article argues that including agriculture in carbon offset initiatives does not provide guarantees for climate benefits. It adds that agricultural carbon offsets may be counter-productive and lead to harmful practices in communities.
