ABSTRACT
The article discusses various search patterns that treasure hunters can use when studying the lie of the land. In the "lonely slug" pattern, the individual relies on his mood or gut feeling. In the "envelope" search pattern, hunters search all the way round the field then detecting across diagonals. Finally, in the "gridiron" search pattern, participants detect in parallel lines back and forth divided by the distance one swings his detector.
