ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the 2012 Medicare payment policy proposals of the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). It says that the proposal would affect Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) service payment policies and rates of physicians and nonphysician practitioners (NPP), in which the sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula shows that physicians will have a 29.5% payment reduction. Furthermore, the proposal will also affect the 2012 Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS).
