ABSTRACT
The article reports on the controversy concerning the standardization of Romansh, one of the four official languages in Switzerland. It says that the standard language used in the country, which is the Romansh Grischun (RG) introduced by the Romansh League in 1982, is now being opposed by Pro Idioms, a group that disagrees the use of RG as the language of instruction. It notes that Romansh is a romance language related to Italian and French that has been written since Reformation.
