ABSTRACT
The article reports on the financial performance of Walter Energy Inc., producer of metallurgical coal for the global steel industry, for the quarter ended March 31, 2011. It highlights the 81.8 million dollars net income and 408 million dollars in total revenue. It states that the significant increase in revenue and operating income were attributed to the strong coking coal pricing from its underground mining segment. Capital expenditures is expected to reach 540 million dollars.
