ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the index to the Upper Canada Land Petitions (UCLP) released by the Library and Archives Canada (LAC). It states that the collection located at www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/upper-canada-land/index-e.html, allows access to 77,000 names of persons who asked for land from the government between 1783 and 1865. It also features the five petitions by John Diver of Michigan which enabled a descendant to understand how her ancestor transferred from New York to Michigan.
