ABSTRACT
The author explores the philosophical nature of the paintings by Andy Warhol and Ivon Hitchens. He criticizes a retrospective exhibition of Warhol's works at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in September 1989. He claims that Warhol offers only a superficial vision of the material world. He commends the banality of the subject matter chosen by Hitchens in his painting "Flower Group" as well as the artist's way of seeing.
