ABSTRACT
The article talks about the background and factors that serve as the basis of terrorism in Egypt as well as offers prospects for the future, in the light of terrorist attacks on the tourism industry in the 200Os. It recalls the emergence of a series of radical groups in the 1970s, including Takfir wal-Hijra, as a result of the rapid urbanisation and accompanying urban poverty experienced by the country at the time. It also looks at the potential impact of these attacks on the sector.
