ABSTRACT
The article discusses the problem of bullying in schools in the U.S. and explores the responsibility of educators to prevent bullying. The author addresses the suicide of several teenagers in 2010 and suggests that bullying prevention programs in schools do not adequately address the psychological impact of bullying on students. She stresses the use of relational aggression by girls and the bullying of gay students, students with disabilities, and students who defy traditional gender roles. INSET: THE MYTHOLOGY OF BULLYING.
