ABSTRACT
The article discusses the expansion of the Section 179 tax deduction regulation for machinery and equipment purchases of farmers in the U.S. Director Roger McEowen of the Iowa State University Center for Agricultural Law and Taxation, explains the advantage of the new rules for farmers, who purchase new and used equipment. However, McEowen reminds farmers to consider before claiming a large deduction on either new or used equipment, and provides five rules for farm-related tax deductions.
