ABSTRACT
An assessment of conditions in Taiwan as of November 1, 2010 is presented. Some of the factors that encourage foreign direct investment in the country include, science-based industrial parks, export processing zones and free trade zones that offer streamlined procedures. It discusses the political control of Taiwan by the ruling party, the Koumintang. The report includes an overview of the country's geography, recent history, social conditions, and relations with other countries.
