The article outlines the nature of police response to family violence in London, England and the nature of experimental innovations. It considers changes in police practice with regard to family violence in the context of organizational restrictions and possibilities of policing. It evaluates changing police responses to domestic violence based on the argument on using the state to achieve social reform.
