ABSTRACT
The article discusses how engineers can develop a clean energy system to address climate change. According to the author, engineers recognize the need for a well-defined goal in systems development and that U.S. President Barack Obama's declaration of an 83% emission reduction target by 2050 is a rational strategic goal. He points out that politicians are unaware of the difference between systems and components and are emphasizing on clean components. He argues that the use of clean components does not necessarily translate to a clean system.
