ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the increase in population due to the coming of political refugees from Algeria in Marseille, France. It states that the area's population has augmented from 800,000 to almost one million inhabitants since May 1, 1962. It also notes that housing conditions have become overcrowded with 8,000 out of 12,000 hotel rooms being permanently rented to the strangers and small apartments being occupied by at least 15 people.
