ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the U.S. Democrats' offensive to wring political prosperity out of recession. It says that the governors of several states, including Colorado, Iowa, and New York sent a joint letter to U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower pressing a practical program to fight the growing recession. U.S. Senate Majority Leader Lyndon Baines Johnson outlined an antirecession program calling for further and faster federal spending for each public work.
