ABSTRACT
The article offers information about the first Florida International Music Festival that was held in Daytona Beach, Florida. The event had featured the London Symphony, considered as the first European orchestra to stay in a U.S. city for a long engagement. The idea of the festival had been conceived to make a cultural counterattack on sex and the so-called sand reputation of the town.
