ABSTRACT
The article reports on the intensive peace talks headed by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak together with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and U.S. Mideast peace envoy George Mitchell in Cairo, Egypt. The meetings were part of a concerted effort to forward the stalled peace process. It notes that Mubarak had failed to twist the Israeli leader's arm concerning the initiation of conditions conducive to the peace process.
