ABSTRACT
In this article the author discusses his review of a 2004 study of academic capitalism and his examination of the existing scholarship on Canadian higher education and funding policies for postsecondary education and the emergence of new policy initiatives that have focused on marketing. The author notes that she has concluded that Canada probably never was the exception to academic capitalism about which the 2004 study concluded. The article also notes that globalization and other factors have led to a rise of interest in the funding relationship between the State and higher education.
