ABSTRACT
The article focuses on how Belgian literature fits into francophone literature overall. In particular, the author examines the question of whether or not it is possible to describe literature as Franco-Belgian. Belgian French language literature is compared and contrasted to that of Québec. It is argued that French language literature from Belgian is more well known in terms of individual authors whereas québecois literature is more well known in its ensemble. The author also points to the somewhat similar but different political situations for the francophone linguistic minorities in Canada's province of Québec and in Belgium's French speaking Wallonia region (Wallonie).
