ABSTRACT
The article discusses a reproduction of a portrait of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln that was donated to the New Hampshire Historical Society. It examines tintypes of the portrait and suggests that it may be a reproduction of a portrait shown at the 1860 U.S. Republican National Convention at which Lincoln was nominated to run for U.S. president. The author also comments on a speech Lincoln delivered in Concord, New Hampshire in 1860 and analyzes reactions to it in the newspapers "The Democrat" and "The Statesman."
