ABSTRACT
The article examines homeland security-related news reports collected by the Homeland Security Institute in the U.S. during 2009. It notes that the stories are compiled and examined with the help of the Naval Postgraduate School homeland security master's degree students. As a result of the consensus of the students from the essays and stories, they have come up with several questions mostly from the facts hindering the strict enforcement of the homeland security system in the country. Questions including those on illegal immigration issues, the significance of cyber security and risk-based decision making in homeland security are also presented.
