ABSTRACT
The article discusses the use of several condiments that appeal to the basic senses of taste. Salt can be used to add taste to foods and enhance the perception of fullness and thickness of products like rice, crisps, scrambled eggs, and soups. However, it points out that high salt intake raises blood pressure in 80% of blood pressure patients and 25% of healthy people. Sugar is regarded as the basic building block for starch but excessive intake of sugar may lead to being overweight. Several types of fats, like trans fatty acids, are described.
