ABSTRACT
The article clarifies some of the misconceptions regarding Arizona's immigration law. It notes that the solid majority support for the law is not driven by racism but by frustration with the federal government's failure to protect Arizona and other border states from illegal immigrants. It compares the provisions of the Arizona law and the federal law concerning issues such as racial profiling and law enforcement. The arguments for federal pre-emption of the Arizona law and the likely Supreme Court ruling are also discussed.
