ABSTRACT
The article discusses the decision by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops to oppose Arizona's immigration reform law, S.B. 1070. The immigration law went into effect on April 23, 2010 and allows local police to investigate, detain and possibly deport any person whom they reasonably believe is living in the state without proper documentation. Many critics of the law believe it will encourage racial profiling by law enforcement.
