ABSTRACT
The article reports on the launch of XBRL Consistency Suite, a set of online extensible business reporting language (XBRL) tools that help public firms determine inconsistencies in XBRL documents related to the use of the XBRL U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). It notes that the software conducts more than 6,000 tests against a firm's XBRL document. Companies are advised to run the tool on their XBRL-formatted financials before submitting them to regulators and investors.
