Extension of ASA's remit to all of online is long overdue

The author reflects on the regulation of online marketing. He is critical of how companies had taken liberties online with their marketing campaigns and bent rules despite the introduction of self-regulatory rules. He lauds the extension of the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) Code of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) to encompass advertisements on companies' own sites and social networks. The extension was also made possible with funding from Google.
