ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the strategic approach that the U.S. will execute in the ongoing war in Afghanistan. The approach is to affirm General Stanley McChrystal's counterinsurgency (COIN) approach to counter the Taliban and al-Qaida in Afghanistan. A COIN strategy will focus on securing the Afghan population and conducting direct action military operations. An ISAF Joint Command was established to help facilitate the COIN strategy.
