ABSTRACT
This article discusses the lack of compassion in the attitudes of Israeli Jews and Palestinian Arabs towards one another. The author notes that both groups are hardened into polarization because of collective experience that makes them unable to trust the other or see them as human beings. She notes exceptions such as the Israeli group Humans Without Borders whose members transport Palestinian children through checkpoints into Israel for medical treatment.
