IPSCs: One cell to rule them all?

The article reports on the developments made in embryonic stem cells (ESCs) into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) by scientist Shinya Yamanaka and his team at Kyoto University in Japan. As reported, iPSCs were formed by reprogramming the adult mouse fibroblasts, that is aimed at targeting the disease research using stem cells. The reprogramming factors included Oct4, Sox2, c-Myc and Klf4, which were known to contribute to cell proliferation and maintenance of pluripotency.
