ABSTRACT
The article offers news briefs related to environmental issues in the U.S. The House of Representatives has approved the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 which includes the National Climate Service Act of 2009. Liz Birnbaum was appointed as director of the Minerals Management Service at the Department of the Interior. A new fund was established by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation to help in the development and implementation of Marine Protected Areas.
