ABSTRACT
The author describes his efforts to discover and promote alternative sources of energy for developing countries. His work is said to focus on addressing energy-related problems, such as global warming and the inevitable exhaustion of fossil fuel resources, from a developing country perspective since emerging nations can adopt the modern efficient and non-polluting technologies used by developed countries. One example of technological leapfrogging is the use of ethanol produced from sugarcane as a replacement for gasoline in Brazil.
