ABSTRACT
The article reports on the statement given by British Airways PLC that carbon trading offers airlines direct incentive to minimize emissions, while flight taxes do not. According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), a global carbon emissions permit trading system must be introduced to encourage cuts, rather than putting more taxes on air travel. British Airways stated that taxation does not provide emissions reductions and does not give revenue for environmental objectives.
