ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the Open Pool Australian Lightwater (OPAL) research reactor in Australia. It states that the OPAL reactor has the capability to deal with the global shortage of radioactive isotopes that are used in medical testing and research. Moreover, it notes that the reactor is expected to supply almost 10% of the demand in molybdenum-99 (Mo-99).
