ABSTRACT
The article discusses the function of the nonprofit environmentalist organization Kommetjie Environmental Awareness Group (KEAG) in South Africa. It highlights the role of KEAG of employing individuals from poor communities to protect or rehabilitate the local environment. Wally Petersen, director of KEAG, notes that the organization creates opportunities for unemployed people with an emphasis on the environment.
