ABSTRACT
The article presents information on a lawsuit related to Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd. and the trade union Unite. The company had entered into collective agreements with the trade union, which set out the agreed approach to be taken in a redundancy situation. It is stated that the company considered that the long service award amounted to unlawful age discrimination as it benefited older workers when the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations came into effect in 2006.
