ABSTRACT
The article reports on the strong financial performance of Apple and AT&T as of the first quarter of 2009 due to the high consumer demand for the iPhone. A 302% increase in worldwide sales of iPhone was reported by Apple. The revenues and net profit of Apple increased by 15.2% to $1.21 billion. A total of 1.6 million iPhones were activated by AT&T in the first quarter. The higher revenues generated by iPhone subscribers were partly reflected in AT&T's margin gains.
