No Blank Check for the IMF

Weissman, Roberto
May 2009
Progressive Populist;5/15/2009, Vol. 15 Issue 9, p18
The article focuses on the role of International Monetary Fund (IMF) as distributor of the Group of Twenty's (G20's) $1 trillion assistance fund to global developing countries. It notes that the assistance program of the G20 might be jeopardized by the IMF due to its pursuance of contradictory policies for developing countries applying for loans. It suggests that the parliament must have the authority to sanction deals between the IMF and finance ministries before IMF can have the G20 fund.
