ABSTRACT
The article presents a profile of Timothy Geithner, the U.S. Treasury Secretary. Geithner is said to have overcome a difficult start as the man in charge of restoring the economy and reversing the financial crisis. His plan for financial regulatory reform and extensive government bailouts of the banking system and auto industry are described. Many challenges lay ahead, such as persuading large institutions to dump over-priced toxic assets.
