ABSTRACT
The article reports on the increase in prescriptions and sales of drugs to treat obesity and related diseases in the U.S. According to a data from IMS Health Inc., prescriptions for the generic hypertension drug lininopril went from 42.4 million in 2003 to 70.5 million in 2007. On the other hand, weight loss drugs have seen more mixed results, with many of the top treatments experiencing sharp declines between 2003 and 2008.
