ABSTRACT
The article presents an overview of the Oman energy market for the first quarter of 2009. It notes that oil revenues account for some three quarters of total export earnings and more than 40% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP). As oil fields are mature and little upside potential has been revealed, it states that the emphasis is on prospecting gas and other natural resources. It adds that the country has large mineral and metal deposits, including silica, dolomite, and gold.
