ABSTRACT
The article offers advantages of midsize wind projects compared to capital-intensive projects in the U.S. Community-wind advocates promote midsize projects, comprising of two to five megawatts (MW), because it believed that it offers many advantages over capital-intensive, corporate-owned wind farms. It was found that several geographically diverse and interconnected midsize installation can make better use of wind resources compared to hat of single large utility-scale wind farm. Research shows that a Minnesota legislature-commissioned study found that wider distribution of wind production could reduce the time when little or no power is being produced. It could also help operators manage sharp increases in power when wind suddenly picks up, resulting in a more stable electricity supply.
