ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the development of responsibility in the Watsonville Public Library literacy program in California, Opportunity to Read (OTR). It notes that the acceptance of responsibility by adult learners have been one of the greatest challenges of the program. It adds that under the program, acceptance of responsibility has been taught through example. It describes several responsibility-building activities of the program which include a spring picnic and holiday party and learner round tables.
