ABSTRACT
The article reports that the U.S. wind energy industry has installed 1,389 megawatts (MW) in the third quarter, totaling to 4,204 MW of wind power projects completed in 2008. The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) stated that with even more wind farms under construction, the industry is en route to surpass the 5,249 MW installed in 2007. Moreover, AWEA estimates that the share of domestically made components in wind turbines has risen from 30% in 2005 to 50% to date.
