ABSTRACT
The article offers information on NestEgg which is a partnership between the New South Wales Murray Catchment Management Authority (MCMA), landholders and Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) Sustainable Ecosystems Division whereby farmers are being paid to create the right conditions for birds to breed on their properties. The collaboration is a result of habitat destruction and predation by feral animals confining it to grassy woodland and farmland along the Murray River. In addition, the habitat improvement program requires farmers effort to estimate the cost of work they are willing to contract on their properties to meet the required breeding condition of the birds.
