ABSTRACT
The article reports on the vacancy rates in community centers and regional malls in the second quarter of 2008 in the U.S. It mentions that the vacancy rate for the country neighborhood and community shopping centers jumped 50 basis points from the first quarter and recently stands at 8.2 percent. Meanwhile, asking-rent growth at neighborhood and community shopping centers dropped to 0.4 percent in the second quarter from 0.5 percent in the first quarter.
