ABSTRACT
The article presents the two proposals made by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in relation to the Endangered Species Act. Dirk Kepmthorne, secretary of the Department of Interior, has accepted the Service proposal concerning the inclusion of polar bear in the list of endangered species under the law. The agency stresses that the melting of sea ice poses a threat on the polar bears and conservation strategies should be developed to address the issue. On the other hand, the Service requested to delist the Maguire daisy from among the plants facing extinction on May 16, 2008 brought by the large number of plants recovered from the Navajo Sandstone.
