ABSTRACT
The article describes labradorite varieties from Chihuahua, Mexico. Gem-quality colorless to pale brownish yellow labradorite is recognized from many localities in western North America, including those in Oregon, Mexico, Utah and New Mexico. A large number of the pale yellow labradorite from the Casas Grandes area of Chihuahua State have penetrated the gem market. According to Bill Barker of Barker & Co., the feldspar is taken from a weathered volcanic rock using a hand screening device. Nine samples of the feldspar revealed a rather narrow compositional range that identifed them as labradorite.
