ABSTRACT
The article features several winning projects in the international category of the Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy. Several recipients of the awards includes the solar power lights in Qinghai province in China by the Renewable Energy Development Project, the solar cookstove in Kerala, India by a local non-government organization TIDE and the hydropower electricity in Brazil by CRERAL regional electric cooperative. Since 2001, the awards showcase innovative low-carbon solutions that provide clean and affordable energy for local communities while at the same time tackling climate change and other pressing environmental threats.
